Trump’s Medicaid cuts strip refugees and other legal immigrants of their health coverage

Cuba provides free, universal healthcare for all its citizens and permanent residents. The government runs and funds the entire national health system.

How the System Works

• Public Ownership: There are no private hospitals or clinics in Cuba. All health services belong to the state.
• Three-Tier Structure: The system is organized into three main levels:
• Primary Care (consultorios and polyclinics): Neighborhood family doctors and nurses provide local check-ups, preventive care, and minor treatments.
• Secondary Care: Provincial hospitals handle general specialty services.
• Tertiary Care: Specialized institutes manage complex or critical conditions.
• Focus on Prevention: The model emphasizes neighborhood house calls, routine annual check-ups, and early disease prevention rather than reactive treatment alone.

Cuba's healthcare system is socialized medicine and is an official pillar of the country's socialist state.
When my wife lived in Venezuela she took a pretty dim view of the Cuban drs there
