All The Economic Indicators Are Up

The problem is the fake news is hiding it from the public. Says Orange Pants On Fire.

Beside, people should switch to EVs, or stop looking at gas prices.

The good news? People may be able to afford more than one toy this holidays season, Trump agreed to remove tariffs on the stuff Americans buy for the holidays at Costco and Amazon, like electronics, toys, etc. China is not going to remove tariffs on Soy Beans.

The art of the deal. Oh, and affordability is a made up word. It did not exist until recently. The communists invented it. Yes, they did.

The numbers they want to highlight may be factual but also "cherry-picked" for headlines.

I will not discuss all the indicators; let's just take median income and their claim that it is the highest on record since 1967. What's the relevance when affordability is low? Median numbers don't clearly show dispersion and income distribution. The share of national income in GDP is at its historic lows.

The framing of the numbers is what we read on the news. They emphasized the best aggregate numbers while ignoring debt, affordability and consumer sentiments about their real quality of life.

So yes, don't look at gas prices. Either you walk, or you don't eat too much.

@CookieCrumbs I am really not going far beyond the gas prices and cereal. I've been running low on stuff, so I went to Costco. No way I could miss the $5.39 for regular and the $12 for the box of cereal I used to get for $7.

Median is very relevant if you're focused on a single community. In mine, it's not going to hurt, but In Eastern Washington, where they voted for Trump, people are using their credit cards to pay for food.
