whowasthatmaskedman Carney got right on TV yesterday and said that Canada will not be re-entering negotiations with the USA until the US sends some adults into any further meetings, which he went on to say he has no plans whatsoever in the near future to even consider embarking upon with the US.
Case in point, potash for agriculture in the USA is imported from Canada and the US has always been Canada's only real customer. But just two days ago, the very first cargo ship full of potash left Canada bound for a new European customer, which was loaded in Hudson Bay and entered the North Atlantic via Hudson Strait.
The port where this took place (if you have a pocket map of Canada handy) is located on the north-east corner of the Province of Manitoba which borders Hudson Bay. The port itself was owned by an American firm years ago which then abandoned the port when it could only operate 6 months of the year which they didn't know about prior to buying it! 🙄
A Canadian company recently purchased that same port, then did some mods to it that made it usable (somehow) for 12 months of the year. Guess where Canada's potash market is going???!!! 🤣
