Trump says US has entered deal with Venezuela to take control of 65 billion barrels of oil reserves

Is Trump talking about the formal agreement signed by Delcy Rodriguez installed as Venezuela's president after the capture of Maduro? Rodríguez’s government in a statement said the deal involves the development of 17 fields with a proven potential of 65 billion barrels. It said the agreement could draw $100 billion in investment into Venezuela's oil industry and yield over $209 billion in taxes for Caracas. She didn't say how much she drew for herself

Carney had better watch out. Canada has proven reserves of 170 billion barrels of heavy crude, the same kind as Venezuela's, the kind US refineries on the Gulf coast can only process. The white man will not likely submit to a "buy out" in public like a common Caracas spic. The CIA will think of something, and Trump has all the cards.

Almost NONE of the $13 billion is making its way back to Venezuela, so it's kinda surprising that anyone there would approve tRump's "deal."

“An account was set up in Qatar, controlled by the U.S. government the whole time, to land that money in and then send the money from there down to Venezuela,” — Feb 2026, Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Wright also said at that date that further Venezuelan oil money was going into US Treasury accounts.

How Much Money Has Been Generated

Total Sales: Estimated at over $13 billion based on analyses from the Financial Times and tanker-tracking metrics.

Export Volumes: Venezuela is outputting roughly 1.25 million barrels per day, with over 500,000 barrels per day heading straight to U.S. Gulf Coast refineries. Other major buyers include India and Spain.

Where the Money Is Held and Where It Goes

Custodial Control: The U.S. administration stated that revenues are kept under U.S. oversight to safeguard and manage distribution. Initial funds were routed through accounts in Qatar before being shifted to dedicated U.S. Treasury and monitored institutional accounts (audited via firms like KPMG, according to administration statements

Return to Venezuela: Venezuelan public financial tracking shows minimal repatriation of these cash flows (only a documented $300 million distributed for localized exchange stabilization and worker support), leaving lawmakers and analysts questioning the discrepancy as local economic recovery remains slow.
