Gee, I wonder why the US is facing a population collapse. Might be that having a kid starts with a 10k to 30K debt from day one

No one is having a "population collapse."

Fewer humans is augood thing in the long run. Continual growth brings about the Malthusian nightmare of depleted resources and mass starvation.

In the interim, economics based on perpetual growth will suffer short term, and then adapt to a dynamic equilibrium. Ideally it becomes a mature economy that encourages repair and maintenance and not just perpetual production.

In natural systems, there are pioneer species with rapid infiltration at first, but systems evolve into a sequence of increasing interdependence. Catastrophie do occur that can reset badk to the initial stage , but unlike our current economic models, it i not cnstantly relying on that produdtion/pioneering stage
@Neoerectus Malthusianism is as much nonsense a phrenology. It assumes things like food production has not evolved since 1700.

And economies don't reach equilibrium by magic.

Economies are definitionally not natural systems.

@jshm2 Nope but you are since apparently you are unaware that Canada and the US are not the same country.

And immigration has fuck all to do with this.
