Anybody see the President's speech ?

What did you think ?
An end to business via trade blocs.
A 'promise' to re-affirm coal as a national fuel.
A 'promise' to look after veterans.

Well, he also froze all non-military federal hiring. Since the VA has over 20,000 unfilled positions, his promise seems to have already been broken.

Yes he did talk a lot about creating executive orders overturning just about everything from Obamacare to re-writing the country's extradition procedures.

@Picklebobble2: I find it fascinating. He is on track to sign more executive orders in 8 days than Obama did in 8 years, but for some reason the Republicans haven't said a word about him overreaching his power.

The really fascinating thing about his selection as a Republican candidate for the Presidency is the fact that he's never once shown himself to be a 'team player' or somebody who's likely to take advice from anywhere outside his own circle !
And the whole speech just sounded more like a businessman outlining his plan for a company he'd just taken over.

@Picklebobble2: Apparently he has blacklisted Republicans who spoke out against him, even people he desperately needs for things such as national security. I despise everything Mike Pence stands for, but at least he understands things like cooperation and that using nuclear weapons isn't a good thing.

@Laifu1: I love your brain.

@melbeacher: lol. Thanks =)

The thing is, are we getting Trumps view and policy ideas or the Republican party's ?
I mean he still comes across as the businessman, not as a President.

@Picklebobble2: Even the Republicans aren't this insane. At least not most of them. I think that the decisions are rushed enough and rash enough to be from Trump and his team. He froze federal hiring, and then said he was going to add 5,000 border patrol positions. Even the worst Republican politician would (hopefully) realize that you simply can't do both things.

It still sound cliche and soundbite rather than goal driven.
Maybe that's what that Republican retreat will be about. Finally putting some policy together

@Picklebobble2: I wish I knew. I'm just afraid it will get far worse before it gets better

It's a fascinating/sad time, politically !
No direction being shown by the U.S.A. Europe in disarray; enemies of the recent past, seemingly vanquished !!
And no original thinking from anywhere !

@Picklebobble2: It is disturbing. Russia and China are in place to take over from the US and Europe

That's what i meant by my comment earlier about watching what's going on.
While folk are nit picking the Mexico wall idea they aren't watching what's occurring between the U.S/Russia and the Chinese !!
Create a bit of tension in those directions and you'll likely envelope a lot of countries !!
