Anthony Fauci lets loose on 'infinitely lying' Trump in COVID diary

USA Today reports:

By Joey Garrison

WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony Fauci called President Donald Trump "out of control," a "true embarrassment" and "an idiot" in his personal diary as the nation's then-top scientist worked in 2020 to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, Fauci reveled in his own celebrity and the extensive media coverage he was receiving that turned a lifelong bureaucrat into a national star ‒ and later a villain – to many.

Fauci's evolving relationship with Trump, his eventual animosity toward the president and astonishment about his own personal fame are revealed in 1,141 pages of diary entries Fauci kept as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, a longtime Fauci critic, released the documents ahead of Fauci's scheduled July 29 appearance before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which Paul chairs.

While the pandemic raged, Fauci accused Trump multiple times in his diary of not taking scientific advice about the pandemic seriously in the president's push to reopen the country from lockdowns for political reasons ahead of the 2020 election. USA TODAY is quoting from the diary as written, including misspellings.

"Trump getting out of control in pushing to open up the country and get the economy back before election day," Fauci wrote on May 22, 2020. "He is desparate. This is all about re-election."

Less than three weeks before the election, Fauci on Oct. 15, 2020, wrote: "As the election nears, the cases increase and surges are inevitable as we enter cooler weather. Trump is on the campaign trail spewing nonsense. He is really out of control. A true embarrassment."

President Donald Trump departs after addressing the coronavirus task force daily briefing as Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, stands by at the White House in Washington on March 26, 2020.

'He is a very strange guy,' Fauci wrote of Trump

Entries released from Fauci's diary ‒ which was kept electronically on a computer, not written by hand ‒ span from December 2019 to December 2022. Paul obtained the journal as part of his committee's investigation into the origins of COVID-19.

My comments:

Dr. Fauci was absolutely correct—for Demented Donnie it was all about the election!

Of more importance is how many lives were deliberately put at risk as a result of Trump's action or inaction on covid ?

As for Fauci, not sure whether to cast him as a 'hero' or 'villain'.

I mean it's not as if he resigned in disgust on a matter of principle and then released his diary thoughts is it ?
@Picklebobble2 Let’s delve into the Rand Paul - Anthony Fauci - Demented Donnie triangle, shall we?

Starting with Dr. Paul. Rand Paul is a graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine who completed a general surgery internship then an ophthalmology residency at Duke. Paul obtained his initial Specialty Board Certification in 1995 by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) which was a 10 year certification and was due for renewal in 2005. Paul did not renew his ABO certification and instead established an alternative board which he named the National Board of Ophthalmology (NBO). This “alternative board” never achieved the status of the ABO.

Dr. Paul is a licensed physician and apparently still holds privileges & practices to some extent. As is true of his political credentials, his medical credentials are at least somewhat suspect. He is not particularly recognized nor villainized in his specialty and while he has published over 250 articles and some books, few, if any, are in his specialty.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, OTOH, is a world renown physician having graduated first in his class at Cornell College of Medicine. He has led the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases for decades. He has authored/co-authored over 1,000 scientific/medical publications and has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom & the National Medal of Science. He has held senior medical advisory roles for seven Presidents.

Now we come to Demented Donnie. Demented Donnie desperately wanted credit for the COVID vaccines. He did fast track the necessary funding. He in no way assisted with the actual research and, in fact, interfered to some extent with the process by inserting people whose credentials were “sketchy” at best. And his rambling and frequently incorrect speeches caused more harm than good. A real low was when he named the female witch doctor from Texas as his national authority, however briefly.

Demented Donnie did, however, excel at exposing people to the COVID virus. He failed to follow common sense preventive strategies such as masking and social distancing at his rallies and events. He is believed to be the source of infection for his brother who died of COVID, Herman Caine, and Chris Christy among many others and rather famously (or infamously) exposed his Secret Service detail to the COVID virus when he made them accompany him on a “joy ride” around Walter Reed Army Hospital.

Demented Donnie’s grade in his attempt to lead America in it’s fight against COVID is a solid “F.”
