Graham's Death May Not Cause the Left to Shed Any Tears, But Deaths Still Have Consequences.

And one of those consequences in that Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin will likely replace Graham as Chair of the Senate Budget Committee.

That is unless the two more senior Republicans on the Committee decide to give up their chairs on other committees to take over Budget.

But Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Mike Crapo of Idaho, are expected to keep their respective positions atop the Judiciary and Finance panels.

And, hopefully, Grassley will stay where he is. Because with Graham's death and John Cornyn's defeat in the Texas U.S. Senate primary, the next most senior Republican on Judiciary is Mike Lee of Utah, with Ted Cruz of Texas right behind him.

Johnson, you may recall, had downplayed the Covid crisis: “Getting coronavirus is not a death sentence except for maybe no more than 3.4 percent of our population... it’s a risk we accept so we can move about. We don’t shut down our economies because tens of thousands of people die from the common flu.”

Three point four percent of our population dying from Covid would have been approximately 11 million deaths.
