The Republicans have always championed less Federal Government involvement and stronger authority to states. It's a bit ironic that they want the Federal Government running elections.

@MoveAlong The biggest Election Fraud in American history was Demented Donnie’s insurrection on January 6th, 2021!

@KunsanVeteran Don't forget George Bush Jr being appointed president by the Supreme Court in 2000.

@Crazywaterspring …that was bad, too, but I think 140 Capitol police officers being injured tRUMPs it.

I mean most of the chaos of American elections would be solved by having a single federal outfit that oversees elections and makes it so that everyone has the same rules and standards.
But with the SCOTUS also deciding Trump can just take over any federal agency at will it is not the best time for that.

@whowasthatmaskedman I disagree on the point about people who don't vote. Voting is not democratic until you have the option of selecting "None of the above."
And nobody defeated fascism at the ballot box. For most things voting within the current framework is political theatre.
Traditionally the left before the cold war believed the only thing voting was good for was signaling to other leftists that they were not completely alone in the void.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow While we arent going to agree on this point, I can understand why you believe it. The US system has been corrupted in baby steps going back to its inception.. But particularly since the 50s. It has reached the point where it is next to impossible to get an even marginally honest candidate nominated by a major party. If I was asked how to fix the US system, I would have to say. "Well you arent going to start here." Its too broken. But it all boils down to the money behind the parties. And the other places that money goes..😷
