They're not happy about going into debt with China over shoddy infrastructure projects either.

@LeopoldBloom The IMF is not China.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow You are convincing. Are you a goddam professor or what? What books have you been reading?

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Banks will be banks.. Deutsche Bank were laundering Russian money for decades. Trump now does it direct for them..😷

It is why France is losing their shit and keep threatening to deploy troops in Ukraine because Russia has help evict them from most of their remaining colonies.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@sree251 A couple of reasons. Re-establishing relationships with old allies from the Soviet days but it also makes things more difficult for their colonial adversaries like France who have seen unrest across the remains of their empire and they have already seen an economic impact from being unable to exploit half of Africa anymore and the local strongmen they relied on handling the peasants in the colonies are falling like dominoes forcing them to intervene directly or sacrifice those territories.
This makes it hard for clowns like Macron to keep fighting an American/NATO proxy war.
Basically war by other means.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Thanks for the perspective. I never could see it that way. You and I are about the same age, how come you are able to view the situation like my grandfather would?
Perhaps, a global nuclear war wiping out the older generations along with their geopolitical grudges would allow us to start anew.

@sree251 Well for one I am a foreign policy and history nerd who grew up in a military family.
I also am francophone so I can read French primary sources from France and their colonial territories in Africa and elsewhere.

How do they see China, then...?
Birdbox1986 · 36-40, F
The money doesn’t make sense in Africa, like for example $10000000 is like $20

That’s what it is. Goodness does not have power currently and it is our collective failure

I'd like to see how Uganda reacts. Making homosexuality a capital crime tells you all you need to know about how they feel about Western imperialism
ImperialAerosolKidFromEP · 51-55, M
@sree251 and that's about how a Ugandan politician would start off. And he'd be right about that, at least

What about you? Do you view homosexuality as an abomination? Prejudice has nothing to do with it regardless of what the intellectual say.

@sree251 I don't really like to use that word with this sort of thing, but then I get to thinking but why? Because it's fashionable it can't be an abomination? Because they say you're as bad as a racist if you think it is?
