How Did Trump Do?
Donald Trump outlined four core military objectives for the war in Iran:
1. Nuclear Non-Proliferation: Ensuring Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon.
2. Missile Neutralization: Destroying Iran's ballistic missile arsenal and completely obliterating its missile production capacity.
3. Naval Supremacy: Annihilating Iran's navy with the real objective of blocking Iran from using Hermouz as an economic weapon.
4. Defunding Proxies: Severing Iran's ability to arm, fund, and support terrorist proxies in the region.
5. Regime change.
Let's see how well he did...
Goal #1. The MOU says:
The Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America have agreed to resolve the disposition of stockpiled enriched material pursuant to a mechanism that will be mutually agreed upon, in accordance with the schedule mentioned in paragraph 7, with the minimum methodology to be down blending on-site, under the supervision of the IAEA. The two Parties also agree to discuss the issue of enrichment, and other mutually agreed matters relating to the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear needs, based on a satisfactory framework being agreed upon in the final Deal. The final Deal will confirm the provisions of this paragraph. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America acknowledge the critical importance of the nuclear issues above mentioned and express their intentions to immediately address these issues in the negotiations in order to achieve mutual agreement on them.
Goal accomplished. But that's because Trump shredded the Oct 2015 JCPOA, which stated:
i. The full implementation of this JCPOA will ensure the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear programme.
iii. Iran reaffirms that under no circumstances will Iran ever seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons.
iv. Successful implementation of this JCPOA will enable Iran to fully enjoy its right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes under the relevant articles of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in line with its obligations therein, and the Iranian nuclear programme will be treated in the same manner as that of any other non-nuclear-weapon state party to the NPT.
So when Trump says that the JCPOA is dumb, he probably means he did not read it because the MOU is the same, or even weaker on nuclear non proliferation.
Goal #2 Totally failed. The MOU failed to address this issue.
Goal #3 Trump acknowledged that this goal failed spectacularly. He stated that he was forced to sign the MOU, to avoid total world economic collapse, similar to 1929.
Goal #4 Not even close. Lebanon was specifically included, because this is THE proxy that counts. Goal failed. Trump's plan is to control Hezbollah, by pushing Syria to invade Lebanon and disarming Hezbollah. To say he's a fucking moron, would be an understatement. To make sure the message is heard loud and clear, the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, refused to leave, despite having been asked to by the host country, and today Hezballah declared that it's launching a campaign to "liberate" its spots of influence from Israel. Netanyahu also said he's not pulling out of Lebanon.
Goal #4 I feel so bad for all the Iranians I see demonstrating every weekend. There is no regime change. But Trump says there was, because he killed so many people.
Incidentally, an Iran court just sentenced a group of women to jail time, and several dozen lashes for failing to wear a Hijab in public. This was after the MOU was signed.
I know what the non-cultists are not going to have an issue with this assessment, but let's see how the MAGA cult is spinning this.
