In time that bridge will become a refugee choke point.😷

There's more to this issue than what has been mentioned.
Trump had already threatened to close this bridge when he first came in office over the tariff issues with Canada.
Trump is still guilty on the issue though. Just in multiple ways.

What really happened was that Canada paid for the bridge with Canadian taxpayer dollars. The US invested no money up front.
The deal that was made between Canada and the State of Michigan was that Canada would pay for the bridge and American workers would be used to assemble the bridge, in addition to Canada using US-made steel to make the bridge.
A toll will be charged on all traffic from Canada to Detroit and from Detroit to Canada, where all tolls collected will go directly to the Canadian government until such time as Canada is completely reimbursed for their cash investment to fund the construction of the bridge.
After Canada has been totally repaid for the bridge using tolls collected and not taxpayer dollars, at that point the tolls collected will be split 50/50 between Canada and the State of Michigan indefinitely. 🇨🇦
