Right Wing Stupid is not just American

If we Australians needed proof that right wing quasi religious idiocy has taken over our conservative politics. (As if Pauline Hanson was not enough) Former failed Prime Minister Tony (The Jesuit) Abbott has been elected unopposed to the presidency of the Liberal Party of Australia. Lets be clear, this is NOT an elected political post, but rather an administrative position within the party machine. In a vague echo of current US politics, Abbott was best known for the word "No!" for rejecting anything proposed by the other side without even reading it, and for being "Managed" by his chief of Staff Peta Credlin, who is currently a commentator in the Murdoch owned Sky Cable network. Semi interesting side note. At the time Tony Abbott was leader of the opposition, his second in charge was was able financial man named Peter Costello, who, like so many ex conservative politicians, went into the financial markets and made real money. If they had been elected at the time, the nation would have been run by Abbott and Costello. However, since resigning from political life, Tony Abbott has been pretty much unemployable. That the Liberal party couldnt find anyone better to run against him speaks volumes.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Proposed Australian policy on transgender abortion rights and its implications.

Here’s a brief, structured overview:

What the proposal likely covers

Scope: Expanding legal access to abortion for transgender and gender-diverse people (e.g., trans men, non-binary people) who can become pregnant.

Legal change: Clarifying that eligibility for abortion is based on reproductive capacity, not current gender markers.

Healthcare access: Ensuring clinics and providers accept insurance/Medicare billing for gender-diverse patients and use inclusive intake forms/pronouns.

Protections: Anti-discrimination provisions to prevent refusal of care based on gender identity.

Confidentiality: Safeguards for privacy and record-keeping to respect gender identity.

Key legal and practical implications

Removes barriers where laws or clinic policies reference only “women” or “girls,” reducing ambiguity for providers and patients.

May require updates to consent forms, medical records, and clinic protocols.

Could prompt training requirements for clinicians on inclusive care and fertility-related needs of transgender patients.

Potential administrative changes to government forms, funding rules, and health-identification systems.
@sunsporter1649 Policies proposed by crackpot groups that will never see the light of day for debate dont count as facts. Just more stupid ideas..😷
