Even the rich did not fare as well as they had expected as all the new post Brexit trase deals that were locked away in safes waiting for the day were stillborn, thanks to Covid hlting almost every form of trade and business. Talk about your bad timing.. Even the pirates came up empty..😷

But to be fair, the British electorate increasingly listens only to what it wants to hear. Johnson was no authentic supporter of Brexit, he embraced it to stop the toxic issue from tearing the Conservative Part apart. Back in 2016 I remember an old lady being interviewed by the BBC who said she would vote to leave Europe as a protest against bin collections being cut from weekly to fortnightly 🤷
Using the local council elections as a "protest vote" against the government has played into the hands of Farage, who seems to have nothing positive to add to our nation. He has created a poisonous narrative whereby all our problems will be solved through the perfornative expulsion of a few thousand immigrants. When that does not work, what will he do? Who will he scaoegoat next to save his own skin?

@SunshineGirl people voted Brexit because:
1. They wanted to keep black people out (yet non-EU immigration has risen massively) or
2. They wanted to protest against the government but didn’t for one moment think that their vote would be meaningful.
People knew what it would mean if we left, but instead they almost literally covered their ears and started yelling.
Nevertheless, nobody, not even Farage, and least of all Boris Johnson, actually thought we would leave. No wonder Boris essentially disappeared for months on end.
