Our history is strewn with these acts of unspeakable horrors visited on a people who simply wanted freedom and equality.
Worse yet, or at least equally disgusting and horrid, is the denial and attempts to erase this history that have gained favor in the last few years.

@Ontheroad Yes. This particular story hits especially hard because a great-uncle (whom I never got to meet) was lynched for encouraging other blacks to vote in a local election.

@Ontheroad Honestly, I had more confidence about the future before MAGA. Now I worry for my Gen Z niece and godchildren.

@bijouxbroussard yes, MAGA has destroyed much of the progress made, but in a way, I'm almost glad (not the right word, but it will do), that they brought the racism out in the open. It has obviously been there, but muffled by progress and the fear of being labeled racist. Now we can see it, identify it, label it and soon the time will come when when we can "right the ship", so to speak.
Still, I get what you are saying and living in Memphis, I see it play out on the streets, in the homes and in every day life.
