The moon race between the tortoise (China) and the hare (USA).

The world watched earlier this month as Nasa sent four astronauts around the moon – but to actually land on the surface the US is once again in a space race, this time with China.

It doesn’t matter who gets to the moon next. It matters who gets to the moon the next 10 times. The nation that keeps going is going to be the one that actually starts to win; starts to actually claim lunar territory. And that's critical.

With space being an area with opaque legal consensus, the first country to establish a presence on the resource-rich lunar surface will probably have a head start in defining the rules.

When you do have a competition, you do not want to lose. A China win will prevent the US hegemon from weaponizing the moon with nuclear weaponry.

The US space agency is vulnerable to changes in government every four years, making it hard to stick to decade-long plans – something Chinese rocket engineers working in a one-party state are not affected by.

Which horse are you backing in this race - the USA or China?

No actually, you never answered a single comment that I posted to your thread here. Not a problem. I don't really give a shitte whether you do or you don't.

Ok.

By the way, why haven't you posted anything in a month?

He told you lots of things, including racing dirt bikes in Utah but which was really an event that was held in western Canada at the time, which is where the photos were taken of him standing beside a white dirt bike.

Why does he want to come on as an American living the good life in the US?

Canada is really a cool place. My mom used to take me to Nova Scotia every summer when I was a kid. The last time she took me to Canada we spent a month at Lake Muskoka. We rented an airbnb on the water. One day while we were swimming in the lake (we weren't actually swimming but bobbing about in the water in our life jackets), a guy came by in a canoe with his girlfriend. He chatted us up and invited us to his house for dinner. We went. The moment he opened the door, mom spotted a hat and exclaimed, "oh, a Tilly hat". Our host replied, "That's my hat. I am Tilly." Alex Tilley died last year October 28.

I've been posting every single day for the past month! Maybe you have me muted?

Well the truth is, he's living the good life in western Canada but like most Alberta Canadians who are predominantly the "cowboy types", they tend to think with the same mindset as Texans and therefore they align their core values as being one in the same with Texas (minus the guns).

My mom used to take me to Nova Scotia every summer when I was a kid.The last time she took me to Canada we spent a month at Lake Muskoka.

I've been to Nova Scotia many times on business and have spent a fair amount of time in the region, so I'm familiar with your old stomping grounds!

I was up at Lake Muskoka last weekend when it was unusually warm for this time of year where I attended a women's beach volleyball tournament at the Muskoka Sands Hotel, which happens to have the only sand in all of the Muskoka lakes!

Done lots of pleasure boating in Muskoka over the years with friends on Lake Muskoka, Lake Rousseau and Lake Joseph. I've even done some snowmobiling on Lake Joe in February along with some ice fishing.

I knew that Alex Tilley was a Canadian and I knew he was up there somewhere but I never met him in my travels. I met Julia Roberts when when our ski boat ran out of gas in front of her cottage a while back. She invited us to sit on her boat dock until help arrived with a few cans of fuel from the waterski club on the other side of the lake!

You met Julia Roberts? Cool. My mother told me Cindy Crawford was at her gym in New York, and so was Penelope Cruz. She didn't think that Cindy was all that hot in person, and Cruz was tiny and looked like a mouse. Those two women looked fabulous to me in the movies. Anyway, mom was a good looker. She was the face of Revlon for one year while she was working for Revlon as creative director. Looking good is important she said. I am a slob by nature. She picked all my clothes for me. Fly business class, even if you have no money, she instructed.

Really? I went to your site and "Good news or bad news" was the last post you made one month ago. Nothing after that.

I know you are a farm girl. Do you like seafood? Nova Scotia spells harvest from the sea. Can you even cook? I mean really cook like Thomas Keller.

I avoid eating seafood because all forms of seafood are bottom feeders, not surface feeders. Yes I can cook, but I only model my cooking skills after Michelin Award-winning Chef, Jamie Oliver of England.

Not all fish are bottom feeders, swirlie. Mahi mahi, tuna, and swordfish are not bottom feeders. You've got to eat some fish. They taste great with chilled white wine. Do you avoid wine also?

@sree251
Mahi maki, tuna and swordfish are not called "seafood". They are called ocean fish. Shellfish and crustaceans are called "seafood". Shellfish and crustaceans are bottom feeders.

I avoid all alcohol completely, including white wine.

See, you learned something new about seafood today, sree.

What I have learned from you is that we all have different meanings for the term "seafood".

Why do you avoid alcohol, swirlie? Is it a deliberate abstinence or something to do with your way of life? Muslims don't drink. They prefer that I don't drink in their presence. I find that rude. I can understand not smoking when dining with people who don't smoke. What is your opinion?

No we don't "all have different meanings for the term seafood", sree.

The term "seafood" which includes only shellfish and crustaceans, is an internationally recognized definition of what specific aquatic life constitutes "seafood".

I know that Americans classify any edible food that grows in the sea as "seafood" which in American standards includes seaweed and other vegetative life. The rest of the world however, does not recognize those American standards of aquatic cuisine.

Why do you avoid alcohol, swirlie? Is it a deliberate abstinence or something to do with your way of life?

It is a deliberate abstinence because I've been an athlete for my entire life, which means that booze does not form any part of my diet.

Muslims don't drink. They prefer that I don't drink in their presence. I find that rude.

What is rude is the contempt that Americans have toward the culture and traditions of other countries of the world, which of course includes the cultural traditions of Muslims.

If you drink alcohol in front of a Muslim, you are conveying a contemptuous American attitude toward Muslims which is fundamentally why Muslims around the world hate Americans in general.

But I understand why you think a Muslim's preference for your abstinence from drinking alcohol in their presence is rude sree, because like most Americans, you simply don't know any better if you find their preference rude.

I can understand not smoking when dining with people who don't smoke. What is your opinion?

Smoking is a filthy, disgusting habit sree. Smoking has been banned inside all restaurants, bars, government buildings and public mall spaces in Canada for over 20 years now. For you to light up a cigarette in an American restaurant whilst dining with someone who doesn't smoke, you would be conveying another typical form of contemptuous behavior that Americans don't hesitate to convey toward others, including their fellow Americans.

Oh wow! An athlete. I like that. A woman athlete's body is beautiful to look at. Allison Stokke looked great at her prime. Generally, I go for 100m women athletes' bodies. Ripped and well-proportioned. I prefer mens' physiques when it come to swimming. What do you think of Eileen Gu?

Ok, you are still young and committed to fitness. No wine. Fair enough.

What do I think of Eileen Gu? She's a downhill free-style skier and part-time model. What am I suppose to be looking for here?
