Cops aren't real

[media=https://youtu.be/-dgUV08JVGI]

We need to take away the police's right to discretion. Like, if they refuse to enforce a law that is it they're fired. That'll curb the civil disobedience. All too often we pass laws and do things but it doesn't amount to shit because the relevant authorities refuse to enforce it- criminalize refusing to enforce and start locking up government agents that's method of civil disobedience is just refusing to enforce the letter of the law.

i’ll never forget when i saw my town get destroyed by a “fluke” storm and i saw more cops protecting the local walmart than helping a single person deal with the destruction of their homes

Let's be careful what we wish for. I was a Cop for over 20 years and discretion is what made me able to do my job effectively.

For example,

After a hurricane, if I see someone running out of a Walmart with bread, milk, diapers etc. I'm looking the other way. If I see someone running out with a 72 inch TV, I'm going to effect that arrest. If I'm patrolling and see a couple kids in a park after hours..I'll ask questions and depending on their answers, I'll send them on their way. If those same kids were tearing shit up or I catch them there again..different result..

Finally, a lot of big box stores hire off duty officers as private security because those officers have a much greater latitude statutorally than a private security professional does.

@Ironhand my real fear with respect to discretion is that for instance there's a judicial bypass for underaged girls seeking abortions for instance because of their abusive fathers and all too often despite them being legally able to go before a judge the court staff will pretend this process doesn't even exist. I've read horror stories where she told her parents she was pregnant only to be beaten so savagely she ended up in the hospital and lost the child anyways. It's true most parents love their children it's a biological thing it's very hard not to but some abuse them we all know it's a minority of bad apples but it still happens should those girls have to their fathers she plans to abort his kid because some court staff couldn't stomach letting a bypass hearing go through? Then there's the fact that my State just passed one of the best right to repair laws in the country and yet we have instances of the DA not knowing whose job it is to enforce them. we have to face reality dead on. Evil is loose in the world. most people aren't but it's out there.

@PDXNative1986 That sounds like a DA problem though and not a cop problem. I don't know why police would be involved in a personal medical matter..
