In sparring with Pope Leo on theology, Vance said it was wrong to criticize those who wield the sword because Europe would never have been liberated during WWII without the U.S. military.

Does anyone, especially a practicing Christian, thinks this American hillbilly has a point?

That quote is made up. There’s no credible record of Pope Leo and JD Vance having any such exchange,. Vance simply said that he believes some wars are justified from a moral standpoint. Pointing to World War II to shut down moral criticism of violence is a lazy argument anyway. Christians have debated the ethics of war for centuries, and it’s not settled by one slogan

@Waveney But there is a Catholic doctrine for a justified war. And is includes the defence of ones people. On that basis alone, Iran way be justified. America certain is not..😷

@Waveney Thats my point. America should have stayed home. But when Iran starts shooting up Walmarts and blowing up buildings, they will be more justified..(Not that I am religious. In my book war kills the wrong people anyway)😷
