Until last week.............believe it or not...........Missouri had a law on books that judges here adhered too that said all women have to be tested for pregnancy BEFORE they can get a divorce...........even in cases of spousal abuse or domestic violence. If she is pregnant....no matter how bad the beatings, she has to let him keep doing it to her........until she gives birth. THEN judges could grant her a divorce.
Last week......someone put enough pressure on Republicans in a red state to make the Gov sign a law repealing that law

@anythingoes477 That's really crazy. It seems like entitlement at this point, some of those laws just seem designed to benefit the abuser intentionally

@SatanBurger If you follow cases it seems like nothing anymore carries any kind sentence at all....except maybe probation. On local TV here a few nights ago FINALLY a cop killed a black guy breaking into a car when he pulled a gun on them. He had 32 convictions....armed robbery, manslaughter, battery, assaulting cops numerous times..you name it......and the guy on TV said he had served a total of 181 days total in the County jail. Not for one of those crimes. FOR ALL OF THEM COMBINED over the years. Of the 32 convictions. 26 were Class C felonies and higher. Everytime probation........or a hand slap.

@anythingoes477 I want to end the private prison complex for reasons but still believe that actions have consequences. Our system is broken because we don't focus on reforms like other countries plus actually bringing justice in the right way instead of wrong. Some people do need locked up tho, 32 convictions is pretty much part of their personality and they weren't going to stop.
