Oh boy! It was just a matter of time…I pray for this pilot’s safety

So Iran is making some startling claims.

They claim to have recently “locked on to an F-35 with their radar. The F-35 is an advanced stealth fighter—to lock on to it would require classified data and technology no one believed they had. But it gets worse: they claimed to have shot down a second F-35 and to have the pilot in their custody.

They are also claiming to have downed a Blackhawk helicopter.

I am hoping that these are false claims, but I fear that there’s more to it than a bluff.
@KunsanVeteran It was only a matter of time. The Pentagon determined in 1996 the stealth tech of the F22 and F35 would be obsolete by the time they went into production and they were designed to defeat late Soviet air defense of the 80s and early 90s.

The Israeli Air force put out an assessment that they figured stealth would be irrelevant in 10 years and that assessment was about a decade ago.

Air defense has improved massively especially with drones. Air defense that can kill tiny radar signatures like a drone inherently make stealth jets easier to target.

Multi band targeting radar is also common now and current stealth is only effective in the X band.

The problem is American defense industry and pundits have spent 30 years telling people stealth is a magical invisibility cloak that makes planes disappear.

Don't forget stealth was first defeated in Serbia about 30 years ago.
@KunsanVeteran Something China is doing that was science fiction when the F35 and F22 were designed is using AI to combine radar data from multiple bands to achieve target lock.

Ai could also run probability on radar hits and determine what is most likely hostile.

Things are really changing fast.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Don’t ya just feel nice and secure knowing that Demented Donnie and Kegsbreath are leading our forces?

Me neither…
