Trump is calling for major increase in defense spending alongside cuts in domestic spending

AP, LISA MASCARO and KEVIN FREKING, Updated Fri, April 3, 2026

"WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is asking Congress to boost defense spending to $1.5 trillion, the largest such request in decades and the latest signal of the president's emphasis on U.S. military investments over domestic programs.

“We’re fighting wars. We can’t take care of day care,” Trump said at a private White House event Wednesday. “It’s not possible for us to take care of day care, Medicaid, Medicare — all these individual things,” he said. “They can do it on a state basis. You can’t do it on a federal.”

With the nation running nearly $2 trillion annual deficits and the debt swelling past $39 trillion, the federal balance sheets have long been operating in the red.

The 2027 plans for the Pentagon were confirmed in a White House outline of Trump's 2027 budget proposal released Friday. The White House summary says Trump's proposal would reduce nondefense spending by 10% by shifting some responsibilities to state and local governments."

So endless money for wars, while cutting our already meager domestic programs. This when the U.S. have been declared insolvent by our own Treasury Department. No tax increase to pay for this outrageous splurge in military spending, just pay for it by cutting the most basic human needs programs. The Pentagon has failed 7 audits in a row. Hundreds of billions of tax payer money has just vanished. But it's not a secret where the money went: Corrupt military contractors stole massive amounts of the tax payer's money.

The Billionaire class wants endless wars and the people impoverished. Let's converge on Washington DC, surround the White House and Congress and demand a Stop to wars, demand our taxes go toward programs for domestic improvements, universal healthcare, world-class public transit, etc..

And yet nobody's questioning why he has so many military commitments in so many places when the whole world is contracting economically ?

We're all having to reduce our financial commitments.
Whether it be on a local; national or international scale.
Why isn't he doing the same ?
And why is he prioritising military spending ?

Could it possibly be because nobody wants to prioritise mining; excavating and refining rare earth minerals for the superconductor requirements for the U.S ?
Given his invasion and overthrow policy of the last two years ?
