Gerald Ford's fire was caused by Iranian missile strike.

600 sailors were grounded due to smoke. US Navy claimed that fire originated in the dryer vent of the ship's laundry spaces. Another claim was that the fire was caused by crew who did not want to fight the Iran War. The fire raged for 30 hours racing through the ship's 21 interconnected ventilation trunks, electrical busways and HVAC ducts. This is consistent with damage caused by missile warheads detonating below the waterline. This coincided with timing of Iranian missile salvos on March 11 triggering the Gerald Ford's withdrawal despite claimed mission capable status; and the retaliatory strike by the US on Iran's anti-ship missile launchers near Bandar Abbas.

I think both Air Craft Carriers in the region have been hist by Iran. I hear Iran sank a supply ship as well. The ship was carrying thousands of missiles. 12 years worth of missiles blew up and sank the ship. Fortunately (according to reports) all the crew survived. There is another supply ship heading there but they are going around Africa to avoid the Red Sea which would put them in range of Iranian missiles. The missiles fired were fired by the Houtis ..
