History is repeating itself. Here’s another fossil fuel energy crisis…

…and we still have an energy market where the price of the green energy we make here in Britain is tied to the global price for gas.

Successive governments have been called upon to break this absurd link, to no avail.

We have the means to nail our energy bills to the floor and keep them there, and reap MASSIVE economic benefits to doing so, through lower inflation and lending rates.

The current free for all in wholesale energy creates windfall profits for oil companies at great expense to the rest of us and the country we live in.

The problem has very little to do with the type of energy or availability of natural resources but more that we have allowed basic needs to be provided by private enterprise in a weakly regulated way . i.e rampant capitalism

@Uhohuhoh A good point.

@ArishMell before I get called a Marxist I am not against all capitalism. But this market is not working

@Uhohuhoh I agree. I think there are some things private enterprise can do well, and others best kept in public ownership, although under the conditions that the Government does not try to manage them and that the Treasury does not take too much of the operating profits (those should be used for investment).

There may be a case for our own country's (not foreign) pension-funds and the like holding minority shares in them, but without executive power.
