All we can do is pile up the evidence and live in hope 🙂

@MartinII there is little doubt that the next government will be a Labour/Green coalition. I predict Labour will begin to climb in the polls after the May council elections because Starmer will be out on his ear and a far more progressive leader will be elected who will actually do what they pledged in their manifesto.

After all, Labour have lost far more support to the Greens and Lib Dems than they have to Reform.

@Waveney I largely agree. However, one factor in the current strength of the left-wing parties, taken together, is a common desire to do down Farage. If he were to be completely done down, a revitalised Conservative Party might be able to pick up the pieces. As to Starmer, he certainly deserves to be out on his ear, for lots of reasons. But it needs someone to put their head above the parapet and force a leadership election.

@MartinII Okey dokey . . or we could place them in the context of other acts of "questionable judgment" from his personal history, such as the racist bullying at school attested to by twenty-seven former classmates. Or the time when he marched on a Sussex village singing the Horst Wessel song. Or his unfortunate recent tendency to spread misinformation about British Muslims for political gain. This is how to form an independent and objective opinion.

Those videos appear (by his ravaged face) to have been recorded in the past five years. You are perfectly entitled to contend that he takes money for saying things that he does not believe in . . that is a further mark of his character, in my opinion, and evidence that he is completely unfit for public office.

Not a surprise, but I'd not take the videos seriously because we can't know their veracity or the source and its probity.

"Newly unearthed" suggests made by anonymous people and slipped into the Guardian offices for their own ends; rather than genuine investigative reporting by named Guardian journalists.

The Guardian is normally pro-Labour so no supporter of Reform.

I should add I am NOT a supporter of either Farage and his Reform, or their opponent Corbyn's left-wing "Your Party".

I'm not sure about the Greens but acknowledge they have more political experience and may be more sincere than those two parties.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Waveney I didn't say they were, simply because I have no way to know either way. It's probably very hard to fake such a video though. Does the newspaper give the name of their makers?

Ironically, when Nigel Farage and otherd formed the United Kingdom Independence Party its rules explicitly barred extremists of both Left and Right. When Farage stepped down, Gerald Batten took over as leader, and he appointed the odious Steven Yaxley-Lennon as an "advisor" - a man ineligible for UKIP membership under that rule.

@ArishMell at best, these videos show the man who would be prime minister as little more than a political performer who is essentially prostituting himself, with disturbing ease and fluency, sailing closer and closer to the wind as time goes on.

At worst, these videos show the man who would be prime minister to be a vile Nazi-sympathising White supremacist, so God help you if you’re not White and straight should Reform attain power.

Happily, it looks as though Reform has already peaked and is sliding rapidly, and these videos, regardless of veracity will do Farage and Reform no favours at all.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Waveney I'd not go as far as calling Nigel Farage a Nazi-sympathising white supremacist even if he tolerates that in some of his associates - and his UKIP attracted people of Asian and African background as well as from Left and Right - but like you I have no faith in him and his Reform Party.

I do not believe they would be good for the country - and I think so also of Jeremy Corbyn's shower.

I think both men are posturing egotists in it for the wrong reasons.
MartinII · 70-79, M
Don't believe anything you read in The Guardian.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Waveney I have no idea what these videos contain, when they were shot or manufactured, whether they are genuine or not. I just think you are extremely gullible.
Waveney · 41-45, M
@MartinII No, it's because you don't want to look at the videos in case you're forced to accept that Nigel Farage supported rioters, Neo Nazi events and far-right slogans. Watch the videos if you dare :)

@Waveney I do not, and indeed cannot, follow links posted on SW. Please summarise for me what your videos show, when they were taken, and what evidence there is that they are genuine. Then I will be happy to respond.
