Why hasn’t the U.S. seized Kharg Island?

[media=https://youtu.be/SvZ9W0J-Tfo]

Yeah, but we could build up stockpiles of Oil for the operation and unleash it just on time to seize the island and let iran completely close the strait and then unleash it and keep the price low until Iran's eonomy completely collapses.

I believe the island serves as a terminal, fed by pipelines. I believe the source of the oil is far away on the mainland, and that end of pipelines can be easily shut off.

@ElwoodBlues largely irrelevant as it won't be able to ship it without the island. their whole economy will collapse.
@PDXNative1986 I'm just saying that we, the US, couldn't use Kharg to build up any significant stockpiles of Iranian oil.

@ElwoodBlues You misunderstood my plea then. My plea wasn't to seize the island to build up a stockpile. By the time we grab the island it's already too late as Iran will retaliate. My argument was to build up a significant glut and stockpile before a single US or Israeli's foot touches the island. Meaning we're not invading to build up a stockpile. We're building up a massive stockpile so that when Iran does retaliate its impact is impotent.
@PDXNative1986 Ah, now I see. Sadly, tRump blew up any opportunity to accumulate a stockpile prior to attacking Iran. He & his admin seemed to have ignored the possibility that the Strait of Hormuz might be threatened. Hard to imagine such ignorance, but that's where we are now.

@ElwoodBlues p.s. the reason the US is considering invading Kharg isn't to steal Iranian Oil it's to strangle Iran's economy collapse it's regime and prevent it from using even more money to fund the various paramilitary groups it's been financing.

@PDXNative1986 And, in response, Iran is threatening to bomb major gulf oil terminals; sort of a nuclear option for oil. BTW, Iran's cluster munitions are getting thru Israel's "iron dome."

Two irrational actors threatening 20% of the world's oil supply; what could go wrong???
@PDXNative1986 Interesting tidbit from google's AI regarding barrels of oil equivalent per day from renewables.

Total Renewable Energy: Renewables account for roughly 9% of total U.S. primary energy production, which in early 2024 terms roughly translates to over 4 million BOE/d, with biofuels alone contributing around 1.4 million barrels per day (BPD).

Context of Total Consumption: This 4 million BOE/d of renewables sits against a total U.S. petroleum consumption of over 20 million barrels per day.

tRump has been blocking wind farms & solar; I'm not sure how many BOE/d the blocked projects would otherwise be producing, but we need every kWh.
