You are ridiculous! The draft will never happen! How do you dream this stuff up?

That's what they said during WWII and that's what they said in the later stages of the Vietnam War... there will be no draft.
The reason the draft is very highly LIKELY to occur for the war in Iran is because enlistment in the US Armed Services is at historical LOWS, which means tax paying Americans no longer believe in the USA and are not willing to be embroiled in endless wars that the USA imposes on other nations.

Oh, I wholly agree with you that US Intel grossly underestimated Iran's capabilities! I think old Pete Hegseth thought that Iran would be a slam-dunk.
What Trump ended up doing today however, was crawling back to Zelensky of Ukraine and pleading with him to assist the US in fighting drone warfare with Iran.
This means that the US is getting backed into a corner and the casualty rates from Iranian drone strikes are clearly much higher than anyone in the US wants to admit to right now. The Iranians are also laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz using fishing boats without any US intervention.
This whole thing is just turning into another Vietnam and Afghanistan affair and I'll bet anyone $1000 that the US will pack up and retreat for America, just like they did when they couldn't win Vietnam nor Afghanistan.

@swirlie I agree. I don't agree with going to war with Iran in the first place but America should admit defeat and save face. As of right now 150 of our troops are hurting and it's gonna get worse so they need to move on

One of the other problems is this, which I can speak to from direct experience. All munitions the US uses to fight a war comes from Canada. That is where bullets, cannon shells for tanks, artillery shells and patriot missiles come from is Canada. This is because the raw materials used to make those things is found in the ground in northern Canada, but none of that raw material exists anywhere in the USA.
Canada supplied the entire Allied war effort for WWII, then supplied the US for it's war in Vietnam, Iraq and then Afghanistan. Those munitions are not assembled in Canada, they are sent across the Canada/US border on a truck in separate pieces to the US military, where they are then assembled and loaded onto a USAF plane for delivery someplace.
But here's the deal. Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney announced yesterday that Canada "would not be participating in America's war in Iran", which also means that Canada will not be supplying the US with ammo to sustain America's interests in Iran.
Trump announced yesterday as well that American stockpiles of munitions have already been depleted by 50% and now he's crawling to Zelensky for help to fight off drone attacks because the US is quickly running out of ammo.
This whole thing in Iran could be over in a week from now, but only because the US will have run out of supplies and ideas simultaneously, not because the US had defeated Iran! 🇨🇦

@swirlie Wow. So Trump is weakening our military too. I'm wondering right now if trump isn't working for a foreign country to dismantle the United states.

I have said from about a year ago that Trump is working FOR Putin to dismantle the USA from the inside-out. The only way that could be done is through someone like the POTUS who could make the necessary changes at the Presidential level without anyone challenging him on it, including the courts.
Trump owes Putin and other Russian Oligarchs millions of dollars in unpaid debt when Trump Atlantic City Casino was first built, but then went bankrupt 6 months after opening day.
Trump kept the money and kept ownership of the land that the casino once sat on and in so doing, he screwed the wrong people.
The New York Times reported yesterday that Trump has a price on his head which is why he is no longer seen in public spaces, only inside the White House surrounded by his security.
It is my firm belief that Trump made a deal with Putin that he would dismantle the USA as dictated to him by Putin, in exchange for wiping the slate clean on Atlantic City.
