Democrat Scott Harriman has defeated Republican Janet Beaudoin in Tuesday’s special election to represent Maine’s 94th state House district, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Harriman, a Lewiston city councilor, won the special election for the Lewiston-based state House seat against Beaudoin, a Lewiston School Committee member.

The election gives Democrats a 75-72 edge in the lower chamber, though several independent and unenrolled members often side with the party, offering Democrats an added cushion.
