All you need to understand that there is no real rift within the "west" ruling elites from the USA to the EU

All you need to understand is to watch Marco Rubio's speech at the Munich security council and the response to it.

To anyone who has been paying attention to the last 200 years should not be surprised by the speech Rubio gave or the response to it.

Rubio giving what could be described as a combination of a Nuremberg rally speech and Kipling's White Man's Burden fits entirely with hundreds of years of European and American tradition of white supremacy, empire and colonialism. And Rubio basically signed off on a new era of colonial empire and told the EU to take pride in their colonial empire past and to join them of get out of the way.

And nobody should be surprised he got a standing ovation from the crowd.

As Mark Carney pointed out pretending that the ruling elite of the "west" were past all that and believed in a rules based order was a convenient fiction that everyone pretended to care about. Rubio just gave everyone the nod that they can stop pretending.

And to anyone who wants to claim that Greenland changed anything it really doesn't. European empires going back to the Crusades are full of the more powerful nations turning on smaller nations that on paper were on the same side. Squabbles like this are not new or inconsistent.

Now it comes down to those of us who live in these countries to decide if we are ok with this and go along or resist this bullshit.

America has been given a slap in the face across the west for it's ever popular at home warmongering in foreign climbs when problems exist at home they can't escape from.

It had to be pointed out to Trump he might get away with losing thousands of his own in these pointless, endless endeavours but folk elsewhere have had enough of losing their own following this policy, and they've told him so.

Trump supporters need to start getting their heads around the fact that Trump is already on his way out.
What should terrify them is what a post Trump; right-wing extremist (probably Republican) America is going to look like.
