I dunno,man...you raise some interesting points but comparing a unique musical alchemical animal like The Dead to 21st century politics is like weighing kumquats to moon rocks,I don't get it. Sure, the boys nourished a transcendent, ecstatic art form and brought it to the masses where the musical body of work stands the test of time-but the conformity, selfishness and greed around that scene became quite toxic and predictable as the years went by. Certainly the improvisational nature of the trip has been passed to ensuing generations and I hope they make the most of it,but I'm seldom surprised by the current wave of imitators.
Excuse my jaded perspective.I don't mean to be that burnt-out old guy critiquing from the balcony,I'm just not sure humanity learned very much from the magic of good ol' Grateful Dead to apply practical lessons to our current political morass. All that being said,I quite enjoy your writing and encourage you to keep it up. Weird still has a big place in my heart and my world.
