Well in my opinion, it's a literal cult. If you tried telling the people of Jonestown or just any cult where they have a violent offender as a cult leader, you'd hear a lot of the same things. Around 2016 and a little before they were grooming people for many years with a constant bombardment of daily propaganda and latched onto anger.
Much like how women fell victim to trad wife lifestyles and ended up homeless or broke. That's all from programming and grooming.
As for cult members themselves, I dunno how cults can do so much damage that they can literally change someone's entire reality but I do know that cults often stunt people's brains and hijack their logical pathways.
Deep down these people have some feeling underlying that they know they are wrong but their emotional processing centers are destroyed.
People either go all the way with cults to the point of taking someone's or their own life or they get out of it but even then deprogramming takes many years.
