It will at some point, but given where America is right now, it's not going to happen for a long long time.

@swirlie The reason it didn't happen in the past is because America was much more culturally reactionary, even while still being a liberal country.
Today America is culturally progressive, but we have much more important things to worry about.
For the vast majority of human history, 99% of the world's government were authoritarian, specifically Monarchy. The thought that one day there would be as many Republics as there are now, that seemed like pure fiction. There are people still alive today whose parents lived during segregation. Things change, even if it seems impossible.
