@EBSVC It's that, plus they're at that point there they can't really denying being authoritarian anymore. The best they can do is try to make working-class Conservatives feel like they're on the winning team, they're the ones with the boot.
I hate to say this, but I think most normies don't even know that midterms are a thing. But if Republicans openly call themselves fascist, that might do the trick. Even normies know about Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy.
@BohoBabe They do. The comfort and complacency of life in the US is a big hurdle to overcome but losing the ability to vote might be the thing that radicalizes them a bit more
