Trump met with Noem for 2 hours yesterday, because he was not happy with the way things are going in Minnesota.
When the meeting was over, Bovino was fired and she got the Trump thumbs up.
So, what happened, and what did the press either missed, or ignored? Corey Lewandowski was at the meeting.
Here's what you need to know about Lewandowski: from Day 1, he was Donald Trump’s pit bull.
Lewandowski worked for a right wing group backed by the Koch brothers, when Trump hired him in 2015 to run a disorganized campaign. He led with the mantra that Trump loved: “Let Trump be Trump.”
With an attack-and-never-apologize style that mirrored his boss’s, Lewandowski could almost always count on Trump’s eventual support over the next decade, as he ping-ponged from government to lobbying and back again with several scandals in his wake.
In March 2016, he was charged with battery when he grabbed a reporter for Breitbart News, Michelle Fields. Trump and Lewandowski denied the accusations and suggested Ms. Fields was lying, with Mr. Lewandowski calling her “delusional.” Even after video emerged of Lewandowski grabbing Ms. Fields, the two men continued to dispute what happened. “If you look at her, in my book and according to a lot of people, she’s grabbing at me, and he’s acting as an intermediary and trying to block her from doing that,” Mr. Trump said at the time. The picture of her bruised arm did not dissuade them either.
In June 2016, Trump did fire him, but he also gave him $20,000, but Lewandowski was immediately hired by CNN, and was Trump's mouthpiece on CNN.
In Dec 2017, he was accused by Joy Villa of slapping her twice on the ass. And in 2021, a Republican donor accused him of making unwanted sexual advances and touching her inappropriately at a dinner in Las Vegas, saying he had grown aggressive and thrown a drink at her when she made clear she was rebuffing him. He was fired by the Pro-Trump PAC, and the PAC insisted that he was finished, as Trump would never hire him again.
In 2024, Lewandowski was back in the fold, hired as an adviser to the Trump campaign with vague responsibilities. “I just like him,” Mr. Trump told Olivia Nuzzi of New York magazine in 2024. “Corey’s a character.” Sure, she had an affair with JFK Jr, but Trump endorsed pussy grabbing.
Fast forward to today, Lewandowski looms as a significant figure inside the Department of Homeland Security, where he has been serving as a “special government employee” despite questions about whether he has exceeded the limit of 130 days a year for such workers.
