Who should be able to wire money outside the USA? Not welfare recipients, evidently.

Photo above - wiring money to overseas relatives is fast, convenient and affordable. The better pickup locations (like this one) have "muscle" on standby to keep recipients from being robbed instantly.

Hello? Xoom? Yes I’d like to wire 200 US dollars to my sister in (Cebu; Nairobi; Guadalajara; Caracas . . . ). Yes the same location as last month. $5.95 fee . . . I understand.

Let’s be clear . . . we are probably NOT just talking about migrants here. The new law on overseas wire transfers (see link below) will target ANYONE getting public assistance trying to export their benefits to overseas kin. Migrants. Green card holders. Naturalized citizens. Born citizens. Everyone - stop sending money to Guadalajara. If you’re getting public assistance, you’re on the list. Or you will be, as soon as Treasury Secretary Bessent makes the list, and the AI algorithm to run it.

Okay . . . someone is going to say “once we give it to them, it’s their money. They can do whatever they want. Burn it even”.

But actually that’s not true. There’s a long and ever changing list of what you can – and cannot – purchase with food stamps. You can only get healthy foods. Which is why food stamps are clandestinely being sold to friends and neighbors for cash to buy lobsters, alcohol, tobacco, and firearms. It’s taxpayer money, and the US government controls what people can do with it.

You also cannot occupy a section 8 housing apartment, and then turn it over to your nephew for drug sales or use as a brothel. There were outrages a while ago when 80 year old grannies were evicted for letting their mad-hatter grandsons operate 24 hour drug markets on the premises.

Don’t ask me why the police don’t lock these section 8 homeboys up. That does seem like it would be more to the point and be easier, no? Maybe the police have a working arrangement with some of these informal dispensaries?

In any case, you can’t wire your welfare or unemployment checks to 3rd world relatives anymore. As soon as someone spends millions to construct the essential software.

Hey, if we’re going to go to all that effort, can we add a couple of lines of code which keeps welfare recipients from going to casinos and the race track too? I mean, it would be cheaper to do it from the start, right? And mobile/online betting? And the ballpark . . .

I’m just sayin’ . . .

Aren’t those dollars given to recipients because they NEED the money themselves?
