I don't think anyone has the guts to say, 'This means war,' like they did in 1939. Furthermore, Poland was an 'innocent' state, more like Ukraine, and its invasion was an existential threat to other nations. At least for Europeans, this action is a long way away and there are grave doubts over the legitimacy of the leadership, so it's not going to stir up enough fervour for us to see our young people to be put in harm's way.
On the other hand, there is a low-key anger that Trump is just a lawbreaker (domestically and internationally) and that well known and impotent cry of 'something must be done.' is not far off people's lips. That 'something' usually means someone else must do something.

@FreddieUK As was the case with Nazi Germany in 1938 when Chamberlain threw Czechoslovakia to the curb, and prior to that when the Nazi reoccupied the border regions of France and Belgium and annexed Austria.. Germany was fully armed to the teeth for war as is the case now with the USA.. while the balance of the world then and now - is not capable of or as you correctly point out willing to contain the aggressor state.. of Fascist (Nazi) America.. led by Trump who is of course of German heritage through his Father and Grandfather ..... Like Hitler who was a mere corporal in WWI ... Trump got HIS low level low quality military indoctrination in an undergraduate military academy.. and later chose to chase Women instead of serving his nation in Vietnam spuriously claiming bone spurs to gain a medical deferment.. Only cowards send others children to die while his own children have never served.. Meanwhile he is camped 90 minutes from my home in Canada and no offence but this makes me uncomfortable as it did my Grandfather living in Czechoslovakia and then when Chamberlain sold him down the river ... there were Nazis in boots standing in his living room to arrest him for the crime of being born a Jew.. My Mother has seen this play out in her life now for the second time and .. frankly the sequel is often quite a bit worse than the original.
