Being opposed to hatred and intolerance against large and varied groups of people, particularly when that hatred isn't based on any collectively held political stance or harmful social practice, is not the same as being opposed to the idea that sometimes individuals do or say hateful things and it's ok to not tolerate that kind of behavior. This doesn't seem like it should be confusing.
