Why your next yard cleanup could cost a lot more: Home Depot deploys sonic weapons against day laborers.

Quick – where did this happen? (use of a science fiction sonic weapon to drive away immigrants)? If you guessed anyplace other than California, go sit in the corner, you dunce.
It’s 9 am in Los Angeles. Hundreds of F150 (crew cab) truck drivin’ men are at home depot to pick up mulch, fertilizer, and doritos. Just as those guys are ready to tell 3 amigos to “hop aboard” for a below minimum wage day of landscaping, there’s a earsplitting high-pitched whine, like a cross between a jet engine at takeoff and the RFID security detectors at the JC Penney door. The amigos scatter, like leaves in the wind. (see link below).
How is this even legal? I’m not saying Home Depot has no right to disperse loiterers. Especially if the hombres like that draw a platoon of baton swinging, gun totin’ ICE agents. Who wants to see THAT while they're looking for a new wax ring to fix their leaky toilet?
It’s the choice of weapons which caught me off guard. Sonic weapons are the go-to choice of cinematic villains and the People’s República de Cuba. How can a Marvel Cinematic Universe weapon be okay there? California doesn’t even permit tasers, knives or screwdrivers (if brandished with menacing intent). What's next - sonic canons to deter Amazon porch pirates?
I never want to assume I’m the smartest person in the room, so I wanted to get the opinion of actual Home Depot day laborers: Would you rather be tased, beaten with a baton by an ICE guy, or blasted by 1,000 decibels of white noise? Unfortunately, my attempts to reach anyone by phone were unsuccessful.
California is debating raising its minimum wage to $30. Which will probably make it even more alluring to endure a sonic weapon blastl for a chance to rake leaves at low wages. The alternative, sadly, is probably that those leaves don’t raked at all.
Why is the government going after day laborers and not the cartel soldiers, drug dealers, and human traffickers like we were promised? Is America actually this inept?
I’m just sayin’ . . .
