Boys and girls, this will blow your mind. You might think that Reiner and Carol O'Connor were polar opposites when they weren't Archie and Meathead, but they actually were on the same page, politically. Around 1980, they BOTH appeared in a Ted Kennedy presidential TV ad.
Something else I found amazing. Rob and Carol often adlibbed a lot of their scenes together, since it was before a live audience. That's an amazing theater skill that had been developing since Desi Arnaz first insisted I Love Lucy be filmed before a live audience, (mostly because Lucille Ball was a theater trained actress who was a genius at ad libbing for the crowd.)
Both of those guys were comic geniuses during that program. They BOTH got huge laughs.

@Reason10 I don't think anybody with a brain actually thought Carroll O'Connor was as ignorant or racist as his character. He played him for laughs, knowing that he would be the butt of the jokes on the show. Anyone identifying with Archie Bunker needs to rethink their entire life.
