In truth, well our days of conquering the world and it's people are long gone.
Which gives us more of a historical past than a current world status. But there is evidence which you can see everywhere !
From our engineering exploits in terms of viaducts; canals; castles and modern architecture (Just look at the London skyline !) . From Theoretical physics,Prof. Stephen Hawking to IVF pioneer Lord Robert Winston. Got a bagless vacuum cleaner? - James Dyson. Clockwork radio ?- Sir Trevor Bayliss. And if anybody reading is planning on giving me sh*t for this post. Remember you can only do that thanks to Sir Tim-Berners-Lee and his input into creating the internet !
However we also have a great collection of stately homes and castles that anyone can view, from kings and queens of centuries past. We do have amazing underground systems than can wiz you around London or Manchester and other places.
We have a monarch rather than a politician as the 'embodiment of what it means to be British.' And the more i see and hear of 'Presidents' worldwide, i personally think that's a GOOD thing !!
A good health service which although constantly under threat, continues to serve the very folk it was created for without having to consider how much you earn. Or without some accountant somewhere deciding whether YOUR life is worth the COSTS of saving !!
If you like, you have the freedom to go just about anywhere without being hassled by any form of security service.
If that means going for a walk at three in the morning because you can't sleep, go for it !
Our education is free, unless you choose to decide differently.
Even medication from a chemist, if prescribed by a doctor. Is free to most folk !
People often complain that Britain isn't modern or outward looking. But that's bull. Look how many of us you chat to on here !!
[c=#BF0080]What about dentists..[/c]
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@PinkRainbowKisses: Dentist services are free if you can get onto a dentists books !
The problem is that for nearly twenty years now we've been teaching and training medical students who want to do just about anything other than dentistry for a career !
So there is a massive shortage of them !
Which is why so many of our dentists are from the old colonies !!
