Is Trump’s National Defence strategy likely to betray European NATO allies in the face of a totalitarian Russia/China bloc?

There is much debate about the strategy here in Europe.

it will have no such effect. The panic among European elites is because they don’t like to be challenged. In no way does that strategy lead to US withdraw from NATO or support for Europe. It does, however, demand a more evenhanded relationship.

@Djc59 Are you sure about that? It is vastly different from any that have gone before even Trump’s strategy in his first presidency

@Ximenajacoba 100% sure I cannot be but I’m fairly certain because I’ve been a Trump observer for sometime and I’m very familiar with US national security doctrines. I also understand what he’s trying to get at which a lot of Europeans insist on not hearing.

@Djc59 Yes, America has been paying a high percentage of the costs for NATO but most of that is for American military bases in various regions of Europe to thwart the prospect of Russian military invasion in the Ukrainian style of operation.

@Ximenajacoba I don’t agree with President Trump‘s policy on Ukraine, but I support him in most other things and we’ll see what happens

@Djc59 I just hope it doesn’t result in Europe switching allegiance to Russia to forestall any future colonisation by the Russian people in the near future

@Ximenajacoba Me too.

It’s a separate issue, but I’m a big fan of PM Meloni.
