Fox News Blames Consumers for the Poor State of Our Economy

You can read the commentators ridiculous explanations for your self.

I mostly take issue with his take on lower gas prices. He seems to think trump magically lowered the price of gas. He did not. The reason gas prices are down is because people are not driving as much. Why? It's because they are not out shopping as much. They are not dining out as much. They are not visiting as much. They not going on weekend getaways and they are certainly not driving to vacation destinations. Money is not stretching far enough.

My brother and his wife went to Gatlinburg, TN over the weekend. If you are familiar with that town it is a Mecca for Christmas shopping. This time of year the streets and shops are teaming with people and the hotels and restaurants are full. The Smokies are packed with traffic and sightseers. Yes, just driving.

My sister said some of the shops were vacant and shoppers were sparse. The sidewalks were wide open and rooms were discounted like never before this time of year.

A study on the economy just came out mentioning who and where the money is spent.

It seems those with money driven by stocks and investments are spending more while those that only work for a living are spending less or looking for deals at places like Walmart or Amazon.

Trump is expecting the middle class to spend more on higher priced places.

That's just not going to happen. What little investments the middle class has is in their homes and retirement funds.
