Donald Trump says airspace above and around Venezuela is closed

President made declaration in a social media post, after FAA last week warned airlines of ‘worsening security situation’

Trump, in a Truth Social post said: “To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY.”

Venezuela’s communications ministry, which handles all press inquiries for the government, did not immediately reply to a request for comment on Trump’s post.

The US defense department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

US strikes against alleged drug boats in the Caribbean have been under way for months, along with a US military buildup in the region, and Trump has authorized covert CIA operations in Venezuela.

The president told military service members this week that the US would “very soon” begin land operations to stop suspected Venezuelan drug traffickers.

Think Bay of Pigs and Vietnam... US soldiers will have hell trying to secure themselves on land and even if they take out Maduro, the Bolivarian Revolution will live on.
@Jokersswild Yep. Even more similar to Vietnam is it will be regional. Colombia has already stated they have about 150 000 troops ready to fight if Trump starts a brawl in Venezuela.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow If I were Maduro, I would be sending troops across the border into Mexico, coordinate with the Mexican cartels. Why is it these people have no military strategy?

Send in 20,000 Venezuelans dressed as ordinary citizens. Purchase some of the artillery from the cartels and smuggle the rest into Mexico and let them come in through Mexico with the help of the cartels.

I'm sure the US has made some deal with Guyana also and I would be looking out for that ... Although that terrian would be difficult for soldiers to cross into... Columbia or Brazil probably isn't going to cooperate with the US, but who knows? Money talks
@Jokersswild I mean yes they need to work together but I would recommend going to the Mexican government, not the cartels. And Mexico would likely be responsive since Rubio already blabbed that they plan to bomb Mexico too.

Colombia has already said they are ready to pick a fight with the Americans if they invade Venezuela.
