European Union must have a central role in Ukraine peace deal, Ursula von der Leyen said.

She is right. Why is Trump playing power broker and making deals with Russia over Ukraine?

Because it’s a proxy war, between America ( NATO ) and Russia, it just happens it’s America and the rest of NATO providing all the weapons and money, the Ukrainians are doing the dying, and it’s been fought in Ukraine, and America are pretending they are the peace makers

@ididntknow America is not providing much money now. It is selling the arms to European countries, so is exploiting Ukraine trying to defend herself against Russia's totally unwarranted invasion.

Ukrainian civilians and soldiers, and Russian soldiers, are dying... merely to suit ex-KGP officer Putin's misjudged desire to take the land into Russia.

@ArishMell it’s selling weapons to NATO countries, America is NATO, it provides 70% of the funding, so basically American is selling weapons to itself, the war in Ukraine was engineered by America, by people like Victoria Nuland, well known, if you know what you’re talking about

@ididntknow The war ("special military operation" in Vladimir's own words) in Ukraine is purely Putin's land grab.

He thinks there should be no such country, and that its inhabitants, or those who survive his attempts to kill them, are somehow "Russians" really.

He has never made any secret of that.

Though he must have been annoyed when a defecting senior army officer revealed he left because he could not stomach being ordered to tell all his subordinates to regard all Ukrainians as military targets.. That's not been published much, perhaps to protect him.

@ididntknow critical thinking.... that Putin invaded Ukraine isn't exactly inconspicuous or understated. Is it a proxy war, I mean someone had to support resisting Putin - or it would be Sudetenland and Poland all over again.

@ididntknow Cheep insults go nowhere. You only show yourself up. You may be pro-Putin but at least be honest and say so.

Vladimir Putin wants Russia to subsume Ukraine as Russian territory, has only contempt for the Ukrainians themselves, and has never made any secret of this.

@ArishMell So the mainstream media told you, you really have no idea what you’re talking about, I won’t argue with you, as the saying goes, it’s a lot easier to fool someone, than to convince them they’ve been fooled, if you’ve got Amazon prime, look up Ukraine on fire, it’s a documentary made by Oliver stone, it might inform you on the history of Ukraine, and as for calling me Pro Putin, I suggest you grow up, and instead, try and educate yourself, instead of listening to mainstream media or using Google to get your information

@ididntknow I know Ukraine has serious internal problems that among other things have been delaying her bid to join the EU. I know she does also have pro-Russian inhabitants, especially in the South East.

Nevertheless that does not excuse Russia invading her.

Nor does it excuse you making childish insults against anyone not agreeing with you. You say you are not pro-Putin but that is not the impression you give.

Amazon is not mainstream media? It is a huge, American commercial outfit trying to be very "mainstream", and I do not know its political bias.

@ArishMell why don’t you watch it, see if you can Learn something, that’s just one little bit of the whole picture, OK, so Ukraine were killing Russians, 500’000 I believe, isn’t it the duty of Russia to protect Russians, or should they sit back and let Ukraine and NATO kill as many Russians as they like, if you step back and think for a minute, you’d realise, that’s how America and NATO provoked the war, meaning, it wasn’t unprovoked, but you’re so stuck in your beliefs, Russia bad Ukraine and the west good, all backed up by your mainstream media narratives, what about the war in Iraq, remember the weapons of mass destruction, did they ever find them NO, because that was just another narrative, repeated and repeated, until everyone believed it, Just like the unprovoked invasion, it wasn’t unprovoked, it was provoked, also Russia have been telling the west, they would not tolerate NATO on their bother, they ignored Russia, now look at the result, America are the bullies of the world, I’m afraid this time, they picked on the wrong one,
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@ididntknow I doubt I can watch it as I don't live in the USA.

I did not portray either country as angelic and the Ukrainians really were killing Russians on either territory that is inexcuseable. So though, is a massive invasion by Russia./

That is not defending anyone.

We know Russia is afraid of NATO countries too close to it, but only went and added another, Finland, as a response to having invaded Ukraine. Ukraine may have wanted to join NATO but cannot do so while in a war.

No-one provoked Russia. Its president decided he wanted to recover some former USSR empire. We know Russia's official lstance because that is reported in Britain.

The tragedy of it all is that the real victims are the Ukraine citizens having even their own homes far from the war front bombed, and their electricity supplies under constant attack to try to make the land uninhabitable. Yet if Russia behaved, retreated to her borders prior to annexing Crimea, and Ukraine sorted her own internal problems out herself, both countries could be friends with each other and with everyone else.

As they were breifly between the USSR falling and Putin gaining sole power.

It probably does not matter to America because she is safely sheltered by two enormous oceans, but it certainly matters to Europe having a wild and very greedy bear as neighbour.
