Do you believe Russia would have invaded Ukraine if Donald Trump was president at the time?

yeah the motivation may have been more economic as opposed to political alignments. Ukraine has a lot of oil and natural gas. For supply chaining it is a key spot for internal trade logistics for Russia.

actually almost all wars are economic and or religious. If you wonder "why" on any war the place to start is economics of the region contested followed by religious propensity of the area and invading area.

@robertsnj I'd go a little further and say even most religious wars have an economic reason behind them. Religion is used as an excuse by the same old people who want more land, more power, and more mineral resources. Long before America became an expansionist empire under the guise of spreading freedom and democracy, Rome did it under the guise of spreading christianity.

@ItsMeMorgue depends, for examples, the Bosnian war had little economic value but high value for for the Chrisitan Islam class, Rwanda also a Christian Islam clash had little economic gain. The Armenian genocide (by Turkey) had little economics attached to it. Sri Lanka has violence from Buddhist seperatists and the Phillapines has the same friction from Muslim seperatists
