I am not sure if Mr. Netanyahu has faced trial but if not, didn't anyone warn Mr. Trump that to ask formally for a pardon both pre-empts the hearing and accuses the Israeli President of being able to dictate to the country's judiciary?

@ArishMell
He was on trial in Israel (for corruption), and the conviction was in the bag. He tried to fire the judges, but that failed.
He tried to turn attention toward the West Bank as an excuse to delay his trial, under the guise of national security. In doing so, he completely ignored the Hamas preparations in Gaza.
Then October 7 happened, and he used that as an excuse to delay his trial.
Now that war is "over", because Trump ordered him to make it so, and it seems as if part of the deal is that he would for a pardon for him, because Netanyahu ran out of excuses to delay the trial, and his attempt to sideline the judiciary failed, so Trump comes to the rescue, part of the deal.

Someone should remind him that to accept a pardon one has to admit guilt..😷
