I wondering why things like this has just now become a problem🤔

Because Trump maybe?

So🎻

@Virgo79 Ask yourself what kind of a person would partially destroy a National treasure to build a tasteless tribute to himself.

Yes. You are right. It is trump because no other American would do that.

BTW, he doesn't give a schitt about you. You're not going to gain a thing by defending him.

@Virgo79 they have been building for years.. politics is like a swing.. it goes one way its right it goes the other its left.. the idea is to keep it in the center.. trump has pushed the swing over the top

markinkansas · 61-69, M
@Virgo79 are anti Americans .. still americans with all the rights.. or only some americans?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@markinkansas What did I say that was wrong? please point out my error so I can correct it.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@markinkansas I'm not discussing a different subject.
Rights hasn't been mentioned.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 No, British forces, not Canada, burned down the White House in 1814 during the
War of 1812. At the time, Canada was not yet a country, but a British colony, and the troops that attacked Washington D.C. were British. This action was in retaliation for the American burning of York
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@markinkansas Canada was British at the time. Do try harder. Canada didn't exist for another 50 years.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Nearly everything you have said is wrong. What is happening is not a renovation. He's destroying a whole wing and replacing it with a self tribute. A very gaudy one at that.

He may have the right to do it. But f he were really a great man he wouldn't have to pay tribute to himself.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@Virgo79 what rights please
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@markinkansas So maybe you have heard of Upper and Lower Canada? They were in existence at that time. So yes the Canadians burned the white house. Don't forget that York was in large part settled by United Empire Loyalists .
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@MoveAlong it is going to be so much larger than the white house.. then which building is more important the 90000 ft ballroom or the tiny white house which part of it is tore down..
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@markinkansas The National Historic Preservation Act of 1966

Exemption from historic preservation law: The White House is exempt from Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. This law requires federal agencies to review projects that could affect historic buildings, but the White House, the U.S. Capitol, and the U.S. Supreme Court are specifically excluded from its provisions.

He can do it but I believe most people believe he shouldn't.

Edit: sorry I thought question was directed to me. But anyway
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 sorry i was focusing on the british burning our air force in 1779 gotta keep up with the history [media=https://youtu.be/g6mZ1ofj2Vo]
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@MoveAlong to be fair .. he is doing to much so fast it is hard to keep up with.. right out of a great German playbook
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@markinkansas oh i know.
