Senior department officials who were defense lawyers for the president and those in his orbit are now in jobs that typically must approve any such payout, underscoring potential ethical conflicts.

....

“What a travesty,” said Bennett L. Gershman, an ethics professor at Pace University. “The ethical conflict is just so basic and fundamental, you don’t need a law professor to explain it.”

I'd love to see the receipts that say who paid for his lawyers and how much. Not than any of his appointees would have the guts to stand up for basic math, much less ethics.

@ElwoodBlues He insisted that his lawyers be paid by the government, at the time.
@Northwest tRump's lawyers were doubtless paid by one or more of his political action committees. Will the PAC donors be reimbursed? Of course not!!

No way those lawyers billed $230 million. When his campaign filed 61 cases alleging election fraud, the legal fees were like $15 million total. $230 million is a joke.
