King Donald the First: I don't like it!

Don't like what? How did a three-year old get sworn into the office of the President of the United States? I didn't vote for the kid. I voted for Donald Trump who stood against the ruling elites of America and swore to put the power of government back into my hands, the hands of the people. Is this how democracy works: fooling all the people all the time?

We tried to warn you, but you were all worked up over that wokism nonsense. This is the same Trump, the spoiled man-child he's always been.

@sree251 It depends how you define "woke." Yes, he did bully several universities and media outlets into dropping DEI, but the ones that pushed back aren't experiencing any consequences because TACO. Trump's most effective accomplishments so far have been the brutal ICE raids (mostly due to Stephen Miller), and the Israel-Gaza 20 Point Peace Plan. That last was mostly put together under the Biden administration, although this is one case where Trump's lack of nuance and bullying tactics worked where a different approach might have failed. Trump is very popular in Israel, more so than Netanyahu, and when Trump prematurely announced Bibi's support for the plan, Bibi had no choice but to go along with it. Trump also had no problem arm-twisting the Qataris to pressure Hamas into accepting the plan, both by guaranteeing that Israel wouldn't bomb them again, and by giving Qatar, a client state of Iran and major sponsor of terror worldwide, the first foreign military base on US soil.

You're going to be waiting a while for the "next white hope." It won't be JD Vance, a Peter Thiel puppet who is only popular because he's Trump's VP. Vance will be facing real politicians in 2028, like Brian Kemp, Glenn Youngkin, and Chris Sununu, any one of whom could tear him to shreds. If the republic survives that long, I'm looking forward to the GOP abandoning Trumpism for actual conservatism, not that I support that either.

What do you support?
@sree251 You should know by now that I'm a liberal who generally supports the Democratic party. Under the current first past the post system, supporting any third party is a waste of energy, and as a result, the third parties in the US are clown shows.

What does it mean? Are you an ideologue supporting a party manifesto?

Winning is all that matters to you? This is the recipe for corruption. Do you have any principles? Does being good matter?
@sree251 I support the Democratic party because its positions align with my own more closely than any other party. If the Republican party supported abortion rights, civil rights, women's rights, worker's rights, universal health coverage, the environment, and realigning military spending to pay for infrastructure improvements, I'd switch parties.

How is winning a recipe for corruption? If we had a Democratic trifecta right now instead of a Republican one, the country would be in a very different place. As for principles, "being good" applies to my personal life, but I don't see how it applies to voting. Although I consider voting Democratic to be morally superior to voting Republican.

Moral superiority? Liberals are a "holier than thou" kind of people. You don't find them obnoxious?
@sree251 I don't vote for people based on whether they appeal to me personally or if I would want to be friends with them. I vote based on the issues, and the Democratic platform is morally superior to the Republican one.

It's conservatives who constantly invoke religion who are the obnoxious, holier-than-thou types while engaging in every form of depravity that they claim to disapprove of. It's the Republicans who are blocking the release of the Epstein files, with self-proclaimed "Christian" Mike Johnson refusing to swear in a Democratic House member because she would be the final vote on releasing the files. I don't know what's in them, but it must be a doozy.

@sree251 Trump's platform? You mean Project 2025, which his campaign did its best to claim that he had nothing to do with it after people found out what it was? That's going full speed ahead, so I'm not sure why you're complaining. Your orange lord and savior is doing everything he said he would.

The fact that you're unaware of the Democratic platform is just another demonstration of how the Democrats have failed to get their message across. But I'll summarize it.

Address wealth inequality by removing Trump-era tax cuts for billionaires
Protection of the environment without hobbling development
Statehood for Washington DC and Puerto Rico
Reform the Supreme Court to make it less of a rubber stamp for Republican priorities
Protect the rights of workers, women, immigrants, LGBTQ, and children
Partner with business to spur economic growth
Protect the Voting Rights Act
Allow more people to access health care without going bankrupt

The reason Thune has refused to get rid of the filibuster is he knows the Democrats will one day have the trifecta, and he doesn't want them to be able to enact the above agenda, even if that means he can't enact the Republican agenda.

Trump has nothing to do with anything other than himself. Have you not watch the Sopranos on TV? It's about New York gangsters who would do to you people what Trump is doing. He is not about Project 2025. Like those Italian mobsters, he just doesn't like DEI stuff. There are no LGBT types in gangland. No blacks either. It has nothing to do with hate. Look at the way you talk. How the hell did you get that way?
@sree251 Trump probably hasn't read Project 2025 and wouldn't understand it even if he did. However, he did appoint Russell Vought, the author of Project 2025 to the OMB, so it's not like it's not part of this administration.

I'm amazed at how someone as apparently intelligent as you are could be so ignorant. Trump has never liked Black people, but as a New Yorker he's interacted with LGBTQ before and doesn't have any personal animosity toward them. His only interest in this is to use anti-trans sentiment to pander to his base. I don't recall either him or Harris even talking about this very much during the campaign, but the trans issue has been elevated to a significance way beyond its actual importance.
