Education, travel, and other experiences where you actually meet people different from the set with which you grew up/are familiar--all of these help you see others as people just like yourself, the way Jesus wants us to see others (cf. the Parable of the Good Samaritan).
DJT and other bullies want you to hate whom they hate as a way of controlling YOU. If you are busy hating, you don't have empathy and you can't see the hated at people like yourself.
