@sstronaut And that is the problem with Democracy.. There are several historical methods of pre qualifying voters.. For instance, at the time of the Declaration of Independence, Voters were male property owners..Personally, I would be OK with some sort of IQ test, with a focus on civics. Or I have suggested in the past some for of military or similar government service. (You could throw in a term with a peace corp type operation or Doctors without borders or something similar.) The idea being to be prepared to put the community ahead of self.. Then you get a special letter on your social security card that automatically registers you to vote..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Not tying it to voting, but I have thought that forcing all citizens (and others living in your country) to do one or two years of government service MIGHT be a good thing.

Of course, no limited it to any certain method, but those that you mentioned, as well as federal, State and local governments, etc.

@sstronaut I disagree. Compulsory service brings in people who are just plain unsuitable. Only those with the will tp place the needs of others ahead of themselves should be there, voting or not.. But the same thing applies to voting. A person should at least be thinking of the community when they elect the government for all the people. Americans in particular seem to pick them the same way they pick a football team..😷
